As young nation of hokkodo first gained independence from japan, it immediatley new that it was outmatched agains the japanese clan's leigions of steam soldiers, and mighty skyfleets. the ruling caste supected an attack to bring them under the emperors fold, and, as such decided to take a stand in the air.

After the discovery of suspendium, and the creation of the agile kyuketsuki, the first squadron of the Hokkodo Air Defence Force was formed, and among these daredevils was the now infamous Tadashi Hirano. even in his first sortie he proved his exellent abilities, jinking through streams of gunfire and rockets while taking down airship after airship. as the dragged on and his fellow pilots died around him, he fought on, gaining a personally modified type 99 misago (osprey), and gaining a reputation for near suicidal attacks, using terror tactics to ambush his opponents, and using his upgraded cannons to tear them apart.

Aside from upraded guns, the misago featured a third cannon, flare deployment pods, redesigned thundercoil missiles (ag 1 and 2 to fire without lock) and a rocket booster (ag 3). the airframe was also lightened, and a new type 14 go engine uses a special suspendium fuel mix for double the kyuketsuki's thrust. naming himself The Red Devil, Tadashi has become the best pilot in the world with 117 official kills, and flies the most advanced interceptor of the time. as he quoted "even if the wind isn't rising, we all must try to survive"
