A-1E Pummeler Contest

147k Pilotmario  7.8 years ago
Auto Credit Based on deusalgor's (Ended)Attack planes VS AA defense

The A-1E submitted by the Paternian Air Force for deusalgor's attacker/AA contest. The guns are 30mm M9 guns. This example is fitted with 500lb parachute bombs, activated through (1-3). These allow the aircraft to commit to high-speed low-level attacks with bombs without risk of destroying the attacking aircraft in the process. The primary tactic when engaging anti-aircraft gun positions is for a flight of five; two elements of attackers and the "wild card". The two elements engage targets in strafing runs with cannon, rockets, and parachute bombs at intersecting approaches about 120-240 degrees from each other. Another tactic is a high-low attack where one element commences a dive-bombing attack with standard bombs and the other element commences a strafing run with cannon and rockets. Which element does what alternates upon reengagement of same target or engagement of different target. The "wild card" is often an electronic warfare aircraft, usually an A-1G (a two-seat variant of the A-1E), but A-1E Pummeler are often employed as well. The Pummeler is the pride of the Paternian Air Force, and its commitment to the ground troops earn it the nickname "Guardian Angel".

    You can literally buy one from the black market or from unlicensed production in some other nation, though it is likely to be an older model. The A-1 Pummeler is the AK-47 of warplanes. @JohnMSmith

    Now it is a job for the Teuton Empire to capture a Pummeler... which probably wont go well.

    @Pilotmario oh i apologize for that mistake ...hehe deusalgor said with bombs the aircraft will use dive bombing tactics and with rocket pods it will use hedgehog tactics ...you crafted the aircraft you know better XD

    @FennVectorCWA Thanks! It's not really a dive-bomber.

    Well, it can be. The fighter variant (which this was developed from) used dive-bombing strikes.

    I didn't join the attacker team because i thought that my plane will get rect because of bombs ... I hope that tour activation groups works as well but i ve noticed (in a dogfight ) i set the engines to work when AG1 is activated but the AI didnt activate AG 1 XD good luck mate this dive Bomber is terrific
