BACKGROUND
In 1970s, Nidian Shipping Lines still relies on their post WWII vessels which starting to show their age. In 1979, Nidian Shipping Lines announced the specification for the new 3000-passenger class ship. It was decided that for the construction of the ship, Nide would cooperate with the Soviet Union, utilizing their shipyard in Kherson, Ukrainian SSR. The ship class was named Olmsa-class, after a coastal city in southeastern Nide
The first ship of the class, NS Edwards II was completed in February 1983 and was launched in the following month. In total there are 6 vessel built. An improved version was planned, but was cancelled due to the collapse of the USSR and the subsequent refusal by Ukraine to continue the project

The sixth and final vessel built by Kherson Shipyard in Soviet Ukraine for Nidian Shipping Lines. It was completed in February 1987 and was launched in the same month. It started operating for Nidian Shipping Lines on 2 October 1987 after being ferried from Ukraine for 7 months. She subsequently became the flagship of NSL from 1987 to 2016
OPERATIONAL HISTORY
NS Pamagobaja entered service on Brigham - Lamiveb - Eduardovsk - Georgetown -Douglasville - Chigvab'kamo -Severnaya Kurchesk v.v. on 2 October 1987. On 12 January 1988, during Brigham - Lamiveb leg, the vessel encountered a typhoon, resulting to a bow placed container to flew towards the front cabin on Deck 3 and 4, injuring 7 passengers. It was repaired afterwards

The ship is the fastest passenger ship that NSL ever operate with maximum speed at 25 knots while its sister ships can only ran at 20-21 knots

In 2024, the new NSL livery, that consist of white livery and "NIDIAN SHIPPING LINES" and "connect, unify" writings on the sides was applied on the vessel as part of modernization effort
