Flag of Slovenia

18.1k FlagsWorldwide  4.2 years ago

This is the flag of the 1st nation to leave Yugoslavia, Slovenia. Slovenia is a tiny nation in Southeastern Europe. It has a pretty cool flag and a very interesting name for it's capital and largest city, Ljubljana. The country is about 4,628 sq km, or 2,875 sq mi. That is smaller than the US state of Vermont. For Europeans, I'm not sure if I have to put it into perspective considering it looks comparable to the island of Sardinia on a map. Slovenia's flag comprises of the Pan-Slavic colors and the Slovenian coat of arms. The 3 gold stars in the coat of arms are symbolic of the coat of arms of the Duchy of Celje. The white mountains symbolize the Alps and the tallest mountain in Slovenia, Triglav. Mount Triglav is the national symbol of Slovenia. The blue waves represent Slovenia's valuable access to the sea.
