Literally how the Vantrablade was made:

TUPL: Ok guys, we need a simple fighter to fight simple fighters from the Monarchii's inventory, any ideas?

Bruce: Well, if it's going to be simple, it can only have one engine.

Jane: We can't use the Siren 3, can we?

Bruce: Probably not? Why not the Whirlwind?

Jane: Whirlwind is too weak, unless we upgraded it...

Bruce: Ok, that might work... now, the fuselage and inlets are pretty simple...

Jane: Agreed.

Bruce: So, what of the wings?

Jane: We need a lot of lift, but ideal wings for speed... why not make them swept, a little like the Cougar?

Bruce: That might work... and the tail, we should probably use a conventional setup.

Jane: Why not make it like the Intimidator? He turns pretty good.

Bruce: Alright, so-

TUPL: Let's make it a V-tail.

Bruce: ...

TUPL: Unless you think a T-tail is better-
