Background

With the UAS being an island based nation, a requirement arose regarding the transportation of one-off exceptionally heavy goods. Prior to this, items were carried by converted stratobombers or by ship. The former being impractical due to size and weight constraints, with the latter being significantly slower than the stratobomber. Needless to say, transporting heavy items was a largely impractical and costly process, so the requirement was proposed for a new heavy lift helicopter to be purchased by the UAS in small numbers.

Design

Heavily based off the AS-A-4 gunship, it shares the rotor setup and tail configuration with its attack helicopter sibling. However, while the AS-HL-9 doesn’t sport a large array of weapons, it can lift an incredible 400 tons (362874 kg) (subject to lifting method used).
The AS-HL-9 is a heavy lift helicopter built by CAS with a twin contrarotating setup, with each rotor sporting 8 blades to provide a higher lift power to compensate for the relatively small rotor diameter. These are connected via a gearbox to 2 (per rotor setup) powerful variable bypass raven jet engines.
