VTOL for rotor pitch control. (1+TRIM) for forward thrust propeller. The KRIEG MH-7 Ranger is a Paternian assault gunship designed to supplant or replace most Paternian combat types. Previously, the Paternian Armed Forces were reliant on the H-2 and H-65 series for combat operations. While the H-2 family remained fairly capable well into the 21st century, they were machines which entered service in the mid-1960's. The H-65 was a faster and more modern type which had the utility of the UH-2 and the firepower of the AH-2, but first saw service in the mid-1980's. It was decided in the 2010's that the Paternian Armed Forces could obtain more modern rotorcraft with advances in technology. As a result, a tender for more advanced craft emerged in this time. The H-7 design handily won over other competitors, partly due to the powerful gunship/utility aspect of its ordnance.
