"As if the E-1 wasn't deadly enough, now you got one with over 2 tons of bombs and rockets. IT STRAFES EVERYTHING!"

-Mimi Laowl, 5th ground attack regiment.

The E-1 Ground Variant is designed to be the first ground attack aircraft of the I.S.F.O.S fleet. Equipped with 84 (pretty accurate) unguided rockets, and 6 500ib pound bombs, the plane is expected to last for a century or more.

Enjoy!

Also, you can make concrete airstrips in Antarctica. And how long can the E-1 loiter over the target area? @PyrusEnderhunter

The Pummeler uses hit and run tactics. @PyrusEnderhunter

@Pilotmario while not being as cheap as the pummeler, it is durable and accurate. And we use different tactics than that with your pummeler.

@Pilotmario the E-1 is meant to be similar to the A-10. And because of lack of computers, pilots are trained intensely on accuracy.

@Pilotmario that's the thing: the E-1 is not low endurance..... and it can take off from unprepared strips.... how do u expect it ever takes off from Antarctica?

@PyrusEnderhunter There is no real similarity between the E-1 Dragon GV and the A-1 Pummeler other than it's origins as a fighter turned attack plane.

The A-1 Pummeler is a slow, long-loitering and highly-maneuverable prop-driven ground pounder known for its power, accuracy, durability, and economy. It is a favorite around the world as a result, and sees service for over a century and a half.

The E-1 Dragon GV is a fast, low-endurance, and unmaneuverable jet interceptor with bombs and rockets strapped to it. Although it has plenty more power over the Pummeler, it lacks the accuracy, durability, and economy that makes the Pummeler so effective.

The A-1 Pummeler can, and most often does, operate on short, unprepared airstrips in the most astute conditions. It's hangar is most often a simple tent on the side of an airstrip, often shared by its aircrew and mechanics. These airstrips are carved from the wilderness itself, and Mother Nature will spare no effort remind you.

Most Pummelers are best described as a Frankenstein mix of parts from a dozen different airplanes and field improvisations. The fact the airplanes are even functional in such a state is a testament to the design, something not helped by the often contaminated fuels that leak their way to their airfields.

Its pilots rarely close their canopies; they fly by the roar of the engines, the cold wind in their face, and their own gut. Only when Mother Nature is at her worst do they resort to instruments. They know their plane as well as a mother knows her baby. Every quirk and habit is not lost to the pilot.

Without the aid of a computer other than their own brain, they can drop bombs and fire rockets so precisely that they can drop a bomb through a bunker's firing aperture.

This is impossible with a plane as complex as the E-1. The E-1 needs things like smooth concrete runways, proper hangars, regular maintenance, good fuel, and proper logistics. The Pummeler sees them as luxuries.
