MEGALANIA

The Finettan Army introduced a new main battle tank named Megalania as part of its effort to field a durable and easily supported armored force. The vehicle has a combat weight of approximately seventy tons when fully equipped with ammunition and ancillary systems. Its design prioritizes balanced performance across mobility, protection, firepower, crew habitability, and maintainability rather than extreme specialization in any single area.

The primary armament is a 125 mm smoothbore gun fitted with a stabilized mount and a computerized fire control system. The stabilization and targeting suite permit accurate engagement while on the move and improve first shot probability under realistic operational conditions. The fire control architecture places a premium on reliability and simplicity to ensure consistent results in protracted operations.

Propulsion is provided by a diesel engine that combines high speed capability with sustained high torque. The powerplant is engineered for fuel efficiency and for straightforward field servicing. Maintenance procedures deliberately favor common tools and repair techniques so that recovery and repairs may be effected by unit level crews with limited infrastructure.

Protection for the Megalania is robust and designed to provide high survivability against a broad spectrum of battlefield threats. Armour composition and layout reflect an emphasis on all round protection while allowing for effective weight distribution and mobility. The vehicle’s signature management and internal layout further enhance crew survivability and endurance during extended missions.

In keeping with Finetta’s preference for standardization, the Megalania serves as the sole main battle tank type in current Finettan service. This uniformity simplifies logistics, reduces spare parts varieties, streamlines maintenance training, and accelerates crew proficiency. The common platform approach enables predictable lifecycle management and efficient allocation of industrial and maintenance resources.

Operational doctrine treats the Megalania as a dependable workhorse capable of performing offensive maneuver, defensive holding, and combined arms support tasks. Field commanders value the tank for its predictable behavior, ease of sustainment, and adaptability to a range of tactical scenarios. While the Megalania may not represent the absolute cutting edge in specialized technologies, it is widely regarded within Finettan forces as one of the most reliable and versatile main battle tanks available.
