Grumman Harpoon

The Harpoon is a single-seat, single engine fighter bomber produced from 1941-1944 by Grumman Aircraft Manufacturers. Designed to fill the torpedo bomber role in the Allied navies, the Harpoon, with an 800 ft. takeoff roll, was designed for carrier operations.
Used almost exclusively in the Pacific and Asian theaters of World War Two, the Harpoon proved to be a worthy successor to the TBF Avenger. However, most Allied pilots found that landing on a runway — let alone an aircraft carrier — proved to be a challenge. For that reason, both the US Navy and Royal Navy pulled the aircraft out of active service in late 1944 and kept them in reserve.

Seen here in Royal Navy markings, this aircraft would have served in the British Pacific Fleet during early 1944.

Armament:

-Eight wing-mounted machine guns

-Two engine-mounted cannons

-One air-to-ground torpedo

Operation:

Ag. 1: Engine ignition

Ag. 2: Tail hook

Ag. 3: Torpedo. To activate fully, push VTOL all the way UP, and then press Ag. 3. Then launch the torpedo. (If you push down on VTOL, you will explode.)

Ag. 4: Taxi motor.

Notes:

-See Ag. 3 for torpedo

-Do not take off from the USS Tiny; it’s about 300 ft too short.

-When moving on ground, cut the throttle, disengage Ag. 1, engage Ag. 4 and increase throttle accordingly. Use yaw to turn.

-Remove background before flight
