Background

The M161 Fubuki Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) is an armored self-propelled multiple launch rocket system developed and operated by the Mizuhara Federation during the Fourth Neorasia Civil War. The system is mounted on the GPTV-20 (General Purpose Tracked Vehicle) chassis, providing high mobility and battlefield survivability.

Operational History

The M161 Fubuki entered active service with the Mizuharan Ground Forces during the Siege of Hanako. During the siege, Mizuharan forces defending the city covertly transported M161 units from Mizukyoto to Hanako using submarines, allowing the system to be deployed despite the blockade imposed by Neorasia forces.

Once operational, the M161 Fubuki was used to conduct sustained rocket bombardments against Neorasia siege positions. According to reports obtained from captured Neorasia personnel, the constant nighttime rocket attacks significantly degraded enemy morale. Prisoners described the distinctive whistling sound of the rockets as the “whistle of death,” and stated that restful sleep became increasingly rare following the system’s deployment.

Armament

The M161 Fubuki is equipped with 12 rocket launch tubes capable of firing 227 mm rockets. The system is compatible with a variety of warhead types, including:

• High-Explosive Fragmentation (HE-FRAG)
• Thermobaric warheads
• Bunker-buster munitions
• Cluster munitions

Despite its versatility, the M161 Fubuki most commonly employs high-explosive fragmentation warheads due to their effectiveness against infantry concentrations and fortified positions.

Post-war Service and Export

Following the end of the Fourth Neorasia Civil War, the M161 Fubuki remained in active service with the Mizuhara Federation Armed Forces. The system was later exported to several allied states of Mizuhara.

A number of units were also transferred to the Kingdom of Stjerneland as part of debt repayments inherited by Mizuhara from the former Neorasia government.
