Kawasaki Ki-64 with contra-rotating propellers

Featuring contra-rotating props. (this is actually a twin engined heavy fighter)

Turn ON AG1 and AG2 for engine N0.1 and No.2

Feature: Contra-rotating Propellers -

Ki-64 was one of the most advanced fighter projects by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force during the second world war. This plane looks much similar to the mass-produced Ki-61, but it features two different engines (one in front of the pilot as usual and one behind) driving the contra-rotating propellers. This system is more complex than conventional two-engined heavy fighters. The advantage of contra-rotating prop design for this plane is not only increasing the speed but also the center line of thrust is always the same. So even if one engine is turned off (or not working), the plane has the same balance and can fly smoothly. Only one prototype was produced.

According to Wikipedia, "The Kawasaki Ki-64 (Allied code name: Rob) was a one-off prototype of an experimental heavy, single-seat, fighter. It had two unusual design features. First; it had two Kawasaki Ha-40 engines in tandem; one in the aircraft nose, the other behind the cockpit, both being connected by a drive shaft. This combination (called the Kawasaki Ha-201) drove two, three-bladed, contra-rotating propellers. The second feature was the use of the wing surface as a radiator for the water-cooled engines. The aircraft first flew in December 1943. During the fifth flight, the rear engine caught fire; and while the aircraft made an emergency landing, it was damaged. The aircraft was subsequently abandoned in mid-1944 in favor of more promising projects. The airframe survived the war, and parts of the unique cooling system were sent to Wright Field for examination."

Armament: 4x Ho-5 Macineguns -

Firing rate at 750 rinds/minute, Muzzle velocity at 750 m/s
Set according to the source about Ho-5 canons

2x 20mm Canons
2x Type 97 Bombs

Top speed: 460 mph, which is very fast for a WW2 fighter as well as a propeller-driven aircraft

Banzai!!!

@Zaineman yes buddy, since two props are on the same axis, you can fly easily with one. You can turn off AG1 or AG2 and fly with one prop only (with a slower speed) but it is balanced. That is how Fairey Gannet pilots did in the UK

I took off from a carrier, turned around to land at 300mph+ lol, hit the deck, lost a propeller in an explosion, throttled back to 100 % and flew away with 1 propeller left. Lol Z :)
