The Ospray —known in antiquity as the "river tern"—is, if you will, a humble derivative of a universal chassis, yet it embodies the timeless virtue of the plunge-diver: patience married to precision.
We christened it "Ospray" not for any grandeur of flight, but for its singular art: hovering silent above the water, calculating the refraction of light, then striking with an error of but a hair’s breadth. So too must a sniper comport himself—watch, wait, and when the moment comes, act without flourish, yet without fail.
The design abides by the gentleman's creed of utility. Its diesel-electric heart lacks the bravado of fusion, yet it is steadfast, easily mended, and frugal to maintain. At four metres and single-seat, it weaves through rough terrain with grace. The dual inverse-jointed legs, wheeled for mobility, must be anchored to fire—a necessary discipline, for recoil is a force that respects no pretension.
Its armament: a superlight 105-mm electrothermal cannon, three-round clip, admirably swift. The barrel life is brief, yet this is no defect—it is a deliberate balance. On the battlefield, windows close in an instant; three rounds to decide the matter is plenty. Augmented by friendly datalinks and native electro-optics, it shuns the lone wolf’s pride and bows to the strength of coordination. A 7.92-mm machine gun attends merely as a courtesy.
One might ask: how can a fleeting barrel be a virtue? The answer: a sniper’s worth is measured not in endurance, but in economy. One telling shot outweighs a hundred empty boasts. Inexpensive in cost and simple in make, the Ospray, given sound intelligence and suitable ground, becomes a durable asset in numbers.
The ospray stands on the shore—no show of talons, yet the fish is already in its grasp. So it is with this machine.
There are two ways to enter sniper mode:
1. Hit Activate2 to lock the parking brake, then press Activate3 to crouch and anchor.
2. Or pull Brake first to park, then pull Yaw to anchor.
P.S. A fan asked for this variant—wasn’t planning to build it.
