Ace Aeronautics XFV-109 (Dockable VTOL Interceptor)

120k ACEPILOT109  3.1 years ago

Fictional Aircraft
This plane was designed in the time where the hype around VTOL was big, and the idea of flying aircraft carriers came about. This plane is built to be a light weight VTOL interceptor capable of being transported on a Airborne Aircraft Carrier, or AAC for short. The plane does not look pretty but it it just a prototype in the end, as you can see the plane ahs a strange design. The delta wings allow it to be able to have high lift and high speeds allowing better VTOL performance and interceptor performance. The craft is designated XFV-109 for Experimental Interceptor VTOL, and 109 because ACEPILOT109 said so.

Features
This plane has VTOL capability, duh, but it has some other cool things it can use to be the best at anything. It features an autocannon, for air and ground targets, I took apart a gun to make it and never saved the owners name so oops. It also has two guardian missiles in bays, and strong airbrakes to allow very crazy maneuvers. The plane will rapidly losses speed in a turn, this is supposed to happen, it allows it to be able to turn tight around obstacles but it still has a high speed in a straight line.

Activation group 1 : Activate VTOL Mode
Activation group 2 : Activate Side Afterburners
Activation group 3 : Extend Auto Cannon
Activation group 4 : Extend AAC Boom
Activation group 5 : Open Missile Bay
Activation group 6 : Nothing
Activation group 7 : Nothing
Activation group 8 : Nothing
VTOL : Nothing
Trim : Trim
Normal Flight Controls

Try to not have a lot of power when in VTOL, will cause lack of control.

No carrier plane is built yet, in the mean time I recommend using this its a AI B-17 someone made that I also used in my video that shows how to dock. I'm not sure if I will make a carrier plane because of how complex it would be but if you guys have any ideas of what it should be or be based off of let me know please!

    It needs a mothership!
Also when Flying use the side afterburners only cuz then you can use the brakes with the thrusters on

@ACEPILOT109 the drag points should be less than a tenth of what they are. That will allow you to reduce engine power and keep the top speed(It will be a drastic difference with every drag point you remove as drag is proportional to the square of airspeed). Then, simply add dead weight and your TWR should be close to the 1.1 or 1.2 to 1 you should have. Not ummm 13 to 1

I didn't like RCS and that same engine used in vtol is what powers the planes so its pretty strong

Come on, a gyro? You could have gotten pitch and yaw with the main thrusters, and simply add RCS thrusters for the roll. Also, the engines are extremely overpowered... I can do a 30' suicide burn from terminal velocity--
