The aircraft was developed in 1938 as a means of destroying strategically important targets. The main condition of the project was: a powerful defensive armament and a long range. The final version met these requirements, but it also had one more advantage - speed. No matter what anyone says, it was a very fast strategic bomber for its time.

The beginning of the war showed this aircraft in all its glory. The enemy did not have particularly powerful planes, and the high flight altitude and the presence of fighter escorts did not leave a chance for the planes at all. Only large-caliber anti-aircraft guns, which were not very accurate and had problems with the rate of fire, could cause serious damage. If, however, the fighters reached the bomber formation, they exchanged a couple of kilometers of altitude for speed, descending to the cover fighters and exposing the enemy to the fire of the overhead turrets.

At the end of the war, several modified planes carried out nuclear strikes on enemy territory, killing his remaining chances of victory.

The plane was taken out of service in 1958, when it was completely replaced by jets. To this day there are some flying examples that are the mascots of some airbases.

some instructions
