...that's certainly a novel approach to beyond-visual-range combat.
The SCOURGE, at least so far,
has developed no missile fiercer than the Calliope Missiles which they reverse-engineered after capturing one in the early hours of the war. With this Red Opponent E, though, they truly encapsulated the nature of the Calliope Sherman, stacking an absurd amount of missiles onto a single plane and calling it a day. However, as odd and frankly lazy of an idea as it is, I won't lie: it's not ineffective.
While most Red Opponents pride themselves in being some of the most maneuverable Scourge Jets currently in production, the E-variant of the Red Opponent takes an entirely different approach to the Alliance, serving as a missile truck that aims to overwhelm its enemies with an absolute onslaught of missiles. Only recently have Red Opponents been deployed, but in their first mission, they scored four aerial victories with no losses.
One must wonder though, is the Red Opponent E a one-off aircraft, or could it be something bigger? The SCOURGE has been ramping up the quality of each individual aircraft recently, alarmingly giving them an edge not only in quantity, but quality as well. That said, we can't put advanced, truly modern aircraft past them. Our weapons have successfully kept the SCOURGE at bay, but for how much longer, I cannot promise. If the Red Opponent E is as meaningful to the SCOURGE as we fear it is, we will all have to adapt or die...
