Halos are massive destruction weapons built by the Forerunners. They were designed to kill all sentient life in their effective radius using lethal radiation to starve the Flood to death. The arrangement of all seven Halos is Halo Array which has a radius that covers the whole galaxy.
This Halo is Installation 05, the Delta Halo.
