Meant to replace the Minuteman and Hawk as a homeland interceptor and theatre air superiority fighter. One of the rare heavy types in service with Concord
A big radar and long range missiles paired with powerful engines and fast airframe make the Thunder a formidable long range fighter.
Thunders - Dedicated fighter
Spectres - multiroles
- ground attack
Adversary notes:
A dedicated interceptor, thunders are barely on par with most other Bugs’ aircraft. Twin afterburning engines give it good acceleration and climb performance for a Concord aircraft, but this is easily outclassed by any contemporary turbojet. Still, they are missile armed, and their small size and passive systems paired with long range AEW&C and ground radar control allow them to close distances under certain conditions to fire off a few missiles before trying to turn to escape. Where there is one there is two.
