RD TLF "Pretender"

Raphaelis Defense

You want to train your pilots for the skies? Great. But you afraid to risk the actual plane for rookie's training and without burning your actual air force budget to ashes? Then you’re looking for Pretender, the most honest liar ever built!

Built to imitate, emulate, and simulate, RD TLF “Pretender” doesn’t just fly, it pretends to fly like any aircraft you want. From pitch curves to cockpit layouts, our modular systems allow you to customize flight dynamics and interface to match your real jets. The model pictured here features the exact cockpit of a Republic of Spin's fighter, because nothing says "cost-effective training" like convincing a rookie he's already flying the real deal (don’t tell him yet).

Under the hood (or fuselage), you get your pick: a non-afterburning engine variant for serenity and longevity, or afterburner variant if you enjoy scaring cadets and melting fuel at Mach 1. Both are reliable, cost-conscious, and significantly more forgiving than your actual fighter jet engines that cost more than your average city.

Our radical combined stabilizer system, merging pitch and roll in the tail, means fewer moving parts, fewer breakdowns, and less paperwork. Simplicity wins wars... and maintenance contracts too!

All weapons systems is completely modular. Meaning you can maximize plane's load for certain training mission. It means this plane can fully only carry missile in missile training and only carry guns in gunery training. Very efficient!

Want endurance? Pretender carries a large internal fuel tank and supports up to six external fuel tanks, giving you the luxury of turning your two hour sortie into a ten hour endurance test. Fun! Or not. But useful for test your rookie's endurance flying in prolonged training mission or just let them fly across the world in holiday to greet their family from the sky.

Carrier training capable? Of course. Folding parking wings, tailhook compatibility, tight turning radius, so this little liar can park in the carrier next to the real deal birds without being in their way.

Need to simulate mid air refueling? We threw in a fixed refuel probe. It doesn’t retract. Why? Because if it's not moving, it’s not breaking. And if it's not breaking, your mechanic can smiling.

And for civilians who think pilot licenses are fashion accessories, yes, we offer a demilitarized version with neutered maneuverability and no weapons integration. Great for stunt flying, skywriting, impressing uncles at garden parties or just use it for farming. (Disclaimer: fertilizer dispersal kits sold separately.)

So if your air force wants a trainer that walks, talks, and flies like your flagship fighter but costs less than your average national scandal, go ahead, train them to Pretend.

@RB107 would testing weapons systems and using them as an aggressor fighter count as research? We're not reverse engineering the tech, just using it as a stable platform for missile tests before putting them on prototype platforms, and then using them for mock dogfights to test things like their turn circle and stability
And how much would acquiring the license to do that cost if so?
