IJN Shikiryuu

Just a little something I made to stave off you guys while I make the M4 Sherman.

INSERT BATTLESTATIONS PACIFIC THEME HERE

TORA, TORA, TORA!

This ship originally was going to be the Musashi, however, someone already made a higher detail version of the Yamato class, so I saw no point.

Instead, I decided to go straight back to my roots. One of the first ships I ever built was a Japanese carrier.

It was crudely built, and not very well optimized either.

So, I decided to convert my preexisting Yamato class hull into a carrier, with functioning airgroup, while not making it a total replica of the Shinano.

And now, it's finished, after four months of work.

The IJN Shikiryuu. 'Shiki' means 'Commanding' or 'Commander', and 'Ryuu' means 'Dragon', so the name would be something like 'Overseeing Dragon'.

I could not make a full airgroup, but I have prepared custom aircraft for you to use on trunks. One flight of B7A2 'Susie' torpedo bombers, and one flight of A6M5 ko fighters.

Note, these are fairly hard to use, because of how small, lightweight, and fast they are, so I recommend to use 15% throttle for the torpedo bombers, and 20% throttle for the A6M5's. However, just find what works, as this is a carrier that doesn't have much utility.

With that in mind however, I have sunk ships...

TORA, TORA, TORA!

TORA, TORA, TORA!

...so it is possible. I advise to use light taps of the control surfaces however. Be gentle with these planes, and be rough with your enemies.

Strike down any ship you wish with the Shikiryuu!

CONTROLS:

AG8 for the controls of the carrier itself, it's guns (which you can control with VTOL and TRIM, it has three 155mm triple turrets) and to lock climbing autopilot for the planes. This will ensure they don't fly into the ocean while you control the carrier, however, I advise to use one plane group at a time.

There are two, but you may add more planes as you wish. Just drag out the detachers, and add those two flights as a subassembly. The B7A2 flight, however, takes up two of your AG groups, one for flying, and one for launching the torpedoes, while the A6M5's take only one.

Therefore, you can build your own flight group. Just remember to bind the propellers, and torpedoes, plus the detachers they're attached to, plus the guns (which you should bind to the same group you use for that flight to take off, or it won't work properly. There are 7 AG slots you can use for the planes, just leave AG8 open for the carrier itself. Go nuts!

And don't worry, the detachers don't have aircraft collisions on them, so you can just attach them to the deck and they won't affect the planes.

An example of a group I'd use is:

3x B7A2 [AG1 + 2] [AG3+ 4] [AG5 +6],
1x A6M5 ko [AG7].

Remember to also place them on the deck in order corresponding to their AG numbers. You wouldn't want to press AG1, and have your torpedo bomber at the end of the flight deck rear end a poor Zero, would you?

Standard controls for the planes themselves, but keep in mind again, be gentle with them.

If you actually manage to shoot down a plane with the fighters, then hats off to you.

The planes are fixed by what I call "squadron trunks", attached to a detacher.
They're angled onto the deck, so when you so fly with them, they will start to climb rapidly. Immediately just pitch to keep that pull in check.
To make them fly straight, just use the orbit camera for that flight, and position it so that it is looking flat on at the tails of each aircraft. Align that flight to the center of the horizon doing this.

Also, don't try to land with the planes. This isn't impossible per se, it's just going to cause you a lot of frustration if you try. They're expendable, and they can't rearm anyhow.

I tried to translate "Shikiryuu" and it came up, rather unhelpfully, with "Kiryu Shi".
Also, how do you control the ship?

@Adlerkrieg ah okay, well there is a server on discord to help you on ship building. Link is in my bio

@BlazeInfinity I chose not to. I just wanted to see how much I could improve on my ship building.

@ShiptyTheLucario This is just a one time thing, so I won't actually have time to work on it. Plus, it's not meant to, so sorry.
