- This build is unfinished. Use, modify, and upload as you wish.
More of a testbed than anything for stuff I wanted to make. While I intended it to come to fruition as a mildly interesting aircraft it never fully achieved that status with its planned complexity. Running this many parts and a generally outdated airframe I felt it was fairly clear this would forever remain in the realm of unfinished builds.
This does mean that I have gained valuable experience building, which I'll put in to a much more well fleshed-out airplane in the coming month or two, which'll fly significantly better than this and be a bit more interesting than the 5-millionth supersonic jet fighter (but this time, oversized to the point of carrying as much as an F-15EX and being allegedly carrier-capable).
Features:
HMD (those familiar with my IAS Auor will see its a mildly modified version of that), basic projected target reticle on (nonexistent) HUD, Chaff/Flare roller indicators, roller altimeter, roller engine RPM % and EGT, Fly-by-wire, wing bending
Action groups:
1: Systems (turns on engine dials, chaff/flares, HMD. no other effect on flying)
3: Jettison all armaments
4: Jettison drop tanks
5: Open canopies (In-flight opening will result in them ripping off :). HMD is also connected to the canopy so if you lose them you lose your HMD)
6: Tailhook
7: Ejection
8: FBW Normal/Relaxed (Relaxed turns off the G-limiter, AoA limiter, and disables the instantaneous turn limiter. Switch labeled G LIMIT in the cockpit disables AG8. HMD will flash accordingly.)
Armaments:
1x Rotary gun: It's a gun. Also has a bunch of tracer rounds (aka long trail) because I think it looks funny.
2x MA489 AGILE-X: High off-boresight thrust vectoring fire-and-forget air-to-air missile with favourable aerodynamic performance. Range: ~0.5 to 12nmi
The AGILE-X has a rudimentary manoeuvring drag simulation, allowing you to kinematically evade it beyond 8 miles in good conditions. Dive low, and turn to bleed its energy. It'll eventually fail to reach you, but since it is smokeless it's hard to know when it's no longer going to hit you.
2x MA480 AGILE: Older fire-and-forget short range missile. Significantly less manoeuvrable than the AGILE-X, but retains similar range. Range: ~1 to 12nmi
4x MA500 SRM-S: High off-boresight thrust vectoring air to air missile, focusing on pure dog-fight performance. Very short burn time. Range: ~0.4 to 3.5mi
4x MA758 Starstreak-EX: Very long-range fire-and-forget air-to-air missile. Much closer to a brick than a missile at low speeds, but with a maximum speed of over Mach 4 it achieves a very impressive range. Range: 2.5 to 75nmi
The first two Starstreak-EXes are equipped with the rudimentary manoeuvring drag system. Even harder to figure out when you've evaded it, since it flies much, much faster. NEZ in ideal conditions is about 25-30 miles.
2x MA753 Starstreak-C: Medium-range semi-active radar air-to-air missile. Moderately manoeuvrable, an intermediate between the AGILE series and the Starstreak-EX. Range: 1.5 to 30nmi
ATG munitions consist of 6 bombs and 8 Inferno missiles.
