history of dirt modified racing

Modified racing started as a cheaper series using old junk cars and "Modifying" them with hopped up engines, no glass, and a cage. The main series ran along side NASCAR in the early days of their Strictly Stock division, often drawing more competitors sense it was much cheaper than running a brand new car. The modified division was a test bed for innovations including the first to run bespoke chassis' that were soon adopted into the main nascar series.

the modern dirt modified

The modern dirt modified can take its lineage back to the early 70s when Dick Tobias revolutionized the chassis by building a completely hand made car, which would later lead to the creation of the Drivers Independent Race Tracks (DIRT) which would standardize the chassis.

2000s and up are very similar to the modern chassis

Troyer Dirt Cars

Troyer Dirt Cars was established in 2020, and can chase their roots back to the mid 70s with Troyer Engineering from Spencerport NY. The original Troyer Engineering started as one of the first official modified chassis suppliers, and was instrumental in the development of the offset chassis which helped give the cars better handling.

tuning and driveablity
This game was never ment for something like this and honestly I got no clue on how to properly tune the thing and thats why it took me so long to upload this, but I got it to a basic idea.
One thing that might be necessary is have a very small amount of brake in it when turning. Recently was watching a video where Matt Crafton was talking about how important using two feet was for these types of cars, and keeping about 10% brake to keep the front planted. Tried it and it works kinda but the tire model needs a major improvement that I hope i can work with in SP2 when im able to.
Another thing worth noting is this thing is about double the weight it should be and thats all thanks to the amount of hinges and rotators for the suspension and all the animated things so that definitely plays a part in its handling as well.

Builders note: First off Merry Christmas to everyone. This was originally supposed to come out a few months ago but I was getting really frustrated trying to tune this thing properly, and just left it on the back burner until now. I didn't want to release it in a state where it was barely drivable but I think at this point there's nothing else I can do to make it drivable.
The project took a good while to do, but Im so proud of how well it turned out and what i was able to do. This project really got me out of my comfort zone and helped me with making good chassis' and quickly too. I have some very exciting things to come, including 3 new trains which I'll be releasing within hopefully the next few weeks. 1 is a very old project from at least a year and a half to two years ago that im just going to release, a Japanese bullet train, and the only proper narrow gauge engine on the site. Many more cars are planned as well including all of the Tri 5s with my new building techniques, and some more oval race cars. 2026 should be very exciting, and hopefully more upload filled from me.

Big thanks to Krioxo for his testing feedback, and Linus for his steering code
