AMX ELC 901
Historical Reference
The ELC AMX 901 was the first tank prototype designed under the Engin Léger de Combat (light combat vehicle) program. Tests in 1955 revealed several design flaws. An improved version of the tank, the AMX ELC 90 bis, was extensively redesigned and all necessary changes were made. It differed significantly from the prototype and was essentially a completely new vehicle.
