Great Lakes Torpedo Bomber

18.8k Zippy6  6.4 years ago

Formally designated XTBG-1, This three crew aircraft was designed in the 1930s in competition to the Douglas TBD Devestator, which it eventually lost to. It carried one torpedo in an internal bomb bay. Interestingly it placed the torpedo aimer in front of the pilot and observer in his own small compartment forward of the cockpit. This one carries 3 torpedoes instead and is painted in a similar style to aircraft of that era.
