Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1. For over 70 years, it was the standard sidearm for the United States military. Designed by John M. Browning, one of the foremost firearms designers of all time, the M1911 is one of the most enduring designs of all time. It's short-recoil, tilting-barrel lockup is a staple of every pistol. It's grip angle, 11 degrees from the vertical, is shared with virtually every modern semi-automatic pistol.
While replaced by the Beretta M9 in 1986, the M1911 has soldiered on in specialist roles and with special forces. LAPD SWAT teams rely on Kimber-made M1911-style pistols. In addition, it remains in service in many nations as a sidearm. It remains popular as a civilian pistol since its introduction. While inferior to modern options such as the Glock 21, and the HK USP due to its heavier mass, lower magazine capacity (7 + 1, vs. 12 + 1 rounds), and single-action system, it remains popular for its reliability, ergonomics and accuracy.
While many of its contemporaries such as the Luger, Broomhandle Mauser, and FN M1900 are collected as antique relics of another era, the M1911 remains very relevant. It is the pistol that forgot to become obsolete.

Which legally amounts to knowingly aiding and abetting a criminal activity, a crime which is in some jurisdictions just as bad as committing said crime.
Regardless of the culpability of the Serbian government, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was going to invade Serbia anyways after the Archduke was shot, since it turned out that the one guy who didn't want to invade Serbia and was in a position to do anything about it had a bad case of being Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Who was at that point, suffering a severe and irreversible case of being dead.

Glocks have their benefits over a 1911. It comes in many calibers, is simpler to use, lighter, has far larger ammunition capacity, and more reliable. Some have even greater hitting power over the M1911; the Glock 20's 15 shots of 10mm Auto is very compelling defense against polar bears. The M1911 is a more accurate pistol though, and is slimmer due to its single-stack magazine. @Alix451
