First flown in 1931

After 7 years of great success with the P2B, PAC decided to try to improve the P2B even further. The result: The P2C Dragonfly, the last variant. The P2C Dragonfly had some improvements over the P2B. The P2C swapped the NR-2 radials for the NP-3, V6, 200 to 500HP (800HP in S.P.) piston engine. The new engine gave the P2C a higher altitude ceiling, and improved high altitude performance as well, higher than the P2B. The P2C also has a much higher cruise speed at 170MPH, or about 147 KNOTS. The P2C also featured constant speed props, which gave better engine flexibility, at the cost of more complexity compared to the NR-2-powered P2B.

The P2C's main advantage over the P2B was higher altitude and higher speed, making it more suitable as an airliner or bomber than a private plane or bush-operated airplane. While the P2C could still operate from the bush, the P2B remained the prefered variant for the job. Private owners also prefered the P2B for it's lower overall & operating cost, less complexity, and ease-of-maintenance over the P2C. The P2B remained dominant, and the most produced variant, but the P2C trumped in the airline market until the arrival of the DC-2 and DC-3 series of aircraft from Douglas Aircraft. Nevertheless the P2C was still a great final variant of the mighty Dragonfly. The P2C was produced from 1932 until 1960.
