The XF-103 Is an Experimental Aircraft from the 80's to test out the viability of Unducted fans for fighter jets. The outcome was a very slow, and unstable fighter that suffered from a plethera of issues. the aircraft had a dendency to yaw to the left on the ground, had a high takeoff speed of 260 knots, a max speed of only 500 knots, and ocilated up and down on autopilot. The USAF had previously ordered 10 of these aircraft but folling the recent tests, they lowered their order to just 2. the aircraft had 2 rocket pods, 2 250LB bombs, 2 air-ground missiles, and 4 air-air missiles, as well as a small machine gun dubbed the HBV-4. Both aircraft were scrapped after one rolled off an aircraft carrier and the other Damaged its propeller in a dogfight. In 2002, work on a replica began. and was soon completed in 2010 after finacial difficulties and making a brand new GE-36 for the aircraft. remember, the cockpit canopy switch does nothing, 2 for the engine, and 3 for the arresting hooks.
