Fairey Rotodyne Gyrodyne

120k ACEPILOT109  4.3 years ago

The Fairey Rotodyne was a 1950s British compound gyroplane designed and built by Fairey Aviation and intended for commercial and military uses.[2] A development of the earlier Gyrodyne, which had established a world helicopter speed record, the Rotodyne featured a tip-jet-powered rotor that burned a mixture of fuel and compressed air bled from two wing-mounted Napier Eland turboprops. The rotor was driven for vertical takeoffs, landings and hovering, as well as low-speed translational flight and autorotated during cruise flight with all engine power applied to two propellers.

Now my turn

This aircraft is very interesting. its not as easy to fly as it looks. so this aircraft is a mash of a plane and a helicopter! this think can be unstable but easy to get the hang of. a guy on YouTube called mustard made a video on it. he also starts a lot of SP trends like the flying aircraft carrier and ekranoplan plus many more. take a look at the Rotodynes video made by the company.

Activation Group 1 : Helicopter mode / Heli rotor Activates
VTOL : Helicopter Pitch (Active at all times)
Normal Helicopter Controls
Normal Airplane Controls
Throttle : Normal Engines
Gear : Gear

Transitioning:
Push a little nose down and go full throttle and once at about 130MPH deactivate AG1 and keep VTOL at the top. now its normal flight controls. for landing simply go to about 100MPH and press one and turn off throttle. control VTOL to help you descend smoothly and don't forget Gear!

If this is confusing just remember the AGs and play around with it. You will really understand once flying.

It can do heavy lifting

the are the last pieces of it. after the company merged most of the other stuff was destroyed. sadly these are the last pieces from the original design.
