Proxima Class Battleship (Refit)

18.3k SpartanSR91  1.9 years ago

Originally from the game Star Trek: Legacy, this slow and sluggish powerhouse is what Starfleet sends in when a dreadnought just isn't enough to tip the odds in their favor. The twin secondary hulls are not just for show, as each contains their own deflector dish, communications dish, forward facing shuttle bay, and warp core. The two warp cores each power two nacelles (like a standard 2 nacelle design, but doubled) instead of one core powering three (like most dreadnoughts), allowing the ship to divert additional power to offensive and defensive systems without the risks of dangerously overclocking the reactor to boost combat systems. However, each core needed to synchronize its power output, and also required its own supply of matter and antimatter to function. The Proxima Class needed all four warp engines active to reach any reasonable warp speeds. As such, these vessels were commonly used for home system defense, starbase defense, or counterattacks rather than seeking and destroying distant targets. The Excelsior Class heavy cruiser inevitably replaced this aging ship class due to the Proxima's complex and fuel hungry reactor setup and comparable weapons loadout, while still maintaining a far more flexible mission profile.

@Bubby1234 The notched saucer does look like the YT-1300, just without the cockpit to the side. Never saw this until I read your comment.

@Thudderwack Feel free to add the magnets to the hulls as you see fit, the lift engines have more than enough power to lift this ship, and might be able to lift the USS Tiny

@GranRemodeler I run the game on high physics with lowered graphics, and the drive still freaks out when it jumps, but the drive is meant for short jumps between islands. Also, the USS Vengeance is on my To Build list.

I know it's unconventional but please can you add magnets so you can lift the US's tiny

This is great the details are gud and the maneuverability of this craft and the other starships you made is 👌 work on either low med or high problem is when activating the warp, craft goes like crazy when low physics and can you do the vengeance starship kinda my fave

You should probably make the decals on the warp nacelles larger tho
