F-53V

The F-53V is a twin-engine multirole VTOL fighter developed by RAS (Republic Armament Systems) for the Estarian Navy and Estarian Navy Air Corps.

The essence of the F-53V is based on the VSFN (Vertical Strike Fighter Navy) project that started in 1999.

The main purpose of the VSFN project was to provide the navy with a multi-mission fighter aircraft with vertical take-off and landing capability.

Before the VSFN project, Estaria Defense Industry had only tested two VTOL aircraft until it was known. Therefore, most major defense companies were not involved in VSFN.

The Navy's demands were so unrealistic that when the project was launched, no defense company was interested in the project.

As a result of the Navy's lowering of requirements and pressure from the M.o.D and Estar government, RAS officially won the tender for the new generation fighter aircraft.

The design and production of the aircraft took longer than expected due to inexperience with VTOL, and the XV-3 prototype suffered many accidents during the testing process.

When the first F-53Vs were delivered to the navy, they did not meet almost any of the navy's requirements.

Although F-53Vs are still in service, they are expected to be replaced by the TNVF (Tactical Navy Vertical Fighter) program in the near future.

Even though the F-53Vs were developed as multirole, the weapon slots were kept very limited in order to achieve the desired absurd speed and maneuverability, which meant that the F-53V could not carry both Air-to-Surface and Air-to-Air ammunition at the same time.

Operation History

Although F-53Vs are designed as multirole, they are never sent to deep strike missions on Estar aircraft carriers unless necessary.

F-53Vs are generally used as fast reaction fighters in Estar CVSG (Carrier [CV] Strike Group)

These types of aircraft usually take off before the interceptor aircraft and ensure the security of the aircraft carrier. After the interceptor aircraft take off, they accompany the interceptor aircraft, which are vulnerable to enemy fighter aircraft due to their maneuverability.

The Estar Navy equips these aircraft with AASM-42 (Air launched version of NSM-42) when they are not using them as fighters.

Thanks to their VTOL features, these planes can take off before enemy planes and quickly drop missiles and return.

F-53Vs entered service towards the end of the Arainq invasion and did not shoot down any enemy aircraft while in inventory.

The greatest combat experience of F-53Vs was several peacekeeping missions.
