VTOL controls rotor pitch. The G. Heavy Equipment Corporation H-40 Heron is a Paternian heavy-lift helicopter inspired by the Korean Air Industries H-25 Waelagi. The H-25 impressed the Paternian Navy and Air Force, but was uncertain about purchasing helicopters directly from them. Thus, they ordered G. Heavy Equipment Corporation, a wholesaler of the H-25 for civilians, to produce a comparable helicopter. This became the H-40 Heron. The Paternian Navy and Air Force promptly cut all consideration for the H-25 and ordered the H-40. Naturally, KAI was unhappy with this. Both Paternian and Korean civil courts reach different conclusions regarding the two aircraft. However, due to several technology transfers, royalties were paid to KAI over the use of several patents. The H-40 nonetheless remained in Paternian service, and would see multiple roles, including presidential transport.
