The "Icarus" project saw the creation of various railguns under the company Umbra for the use with the Defense and Research Corporation (DRC) of Exeron.

The Site 12 Railgun specifically is the most famous, being an Icarus-3A site that is primarily operated for air defense due to being on the border of Exeron and Finland. It is operated from a late 2000's FCS room inside the base of the firing area, and is guided by a Dominion LRAR-3000C AESA radar. The system is able to detect both terrestrial targets and large enough objects in the area of space close to Earth. The railcannon has been toned down significantly for close-range targets, but has a very strong proximity-fused HE round.

Site 12 is most famous for providing defense of the skies during the 2007 terrorist attacks, when the crew was forced to fire upon a stolen EAC HGH-19 that was on it's way to Rattenheim. The crew came under immediate scrutiny as the Gunship was destroyed above a playground, and while nobody on the ground was hurt, the explosion and sheer volume of the gunship's destruction shattered windows and nearly deafened ~13 people, who all made it out with severe hearing damage. Since then, the Icarus project has come under heavy fire from the public, however, Umbra and the DRC do not care, as Sites 12, 05, and 31 have all proven the use of railguns for aerial defense.
