The ARS(Airport railink Services) Kualanamu airport train began operating on July 25, 2013 in conjunction with the operation of Kualanamu International Airport. Railink is a joint venture between Kereta Api Indonesia and Angkasa Pura II (Persero). ARS Kualanamu currently has a frequency of 25 times the return trip from Medan Station to Kualanamu Airport Station, with a capacity of 308 seats, with a travel time of 28-33 minutes to the airport, and 28-34 minutes when going to Medan (trains to the airport are faster because they are prioritized. in the use of a single rail in this route). The train departs and arrives at the special airport train platform at Medan Station.

This train uses 4 sets of diesel electric railroad train (diesel electric rail train) made at the South Korean manufacturer, Woojin. Initially, this ARS service used a series of KRD ex-KRD Kaligangsa(MCW302) from Java Island, but after the arrival of the train from South Korea, the rail diesel train from Java Island was returned and is currently being used again as Prambanan Ekspres, while the remaining part is used as Sri Lelawangsa train.

The facilities provided in this train are executive train comfort facilities in the form of air-conditioned trains, reclining seats, Wi-Fi, and audio-visual screens. The ticket price for this train one way is IDR 100,000

This airport train project is a pilot project and will be developed at several international airports in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Padang.
