F/A-229 Whippoorwill

The F/A-229 Whippoorwill is the first operational aircraft to be designed around stealth technology. Its maiden flight took place in 1979, and the aircraft achieved initial operating capability status in 1982. The Whippoorwill was shrouded in secrecy until it was revealed to the public in 1994. The F/A-229 was widely publicized for its role in the Namalan Independence War of 1997. Although, it's designated as a fighter aircraft; the F/A-229 is purely an aircraft used for ground attack - lacking neither cannons nor air-to-air armament.
