Privateer Lynx

The Real Thing

The American Privateer ship Lynx is one of the most privateers of the War of 1812. She only served a single mission as a privateer before being captured and renamed ‘HMS Mosquidobit’. However, her story truly begins in 2001, when a replica ship was launched. It was this same ship that sparked an interest in naval history for a young boy (me) in 2008.

The Build

Pursuing a Royal Navy Merchant

Obviously I have a strong connection with this ship. I first saw her at an event in Boston, and fell in love. She was fairly straightforward to put together, but I included a lot of experimental details, like open gunports and working (ish) anchors. I tried a new technique on the lower hull, I like the look but I need to learn how to shape it better. I also need to figure out how to do spankers, but I’m considering doing a tutorial on the topsail.

AG1- Port Carronades
AG2- Starboard Carronades

Yeah I understand. I build on mobile but I have a pretty good phone. I guess I just assume that everyone else’s mobile devices can handle it lol. @JediWolf
