The unmatched Flying brick

Beggining development in 1958 and being introduced in 1960 the F-4 Phantom II was a plane coming from a time where it was thought that close combat between fighters was going to become obsolete it's nickname of "flying brick" was fit as it was heavy, big and slow to maneuver and lacked a gun in its first variants relying on its missiles to fight beyond visual range. However in battle it was proven that the era of dogfights was far from over with migs taking advantage of the sluggish nature of the phantom and it's armament problems to hunt them down. Though it had a hard time on the beggining the plane became less bad introducing major upgrades with one of the most notorious ones being an M61 cannon on the E variant (going on to become the only plane for now to achieve a gun kill over Mach 1) being able to engage ground and air targets alike pretty efficiently

The Phantom in Korean Air force service

In 1968 South Korea acquired a batch of used USAF F-4D under the peace spectator program and operated up to 92 of this variant. With time these F-4D were replaced with the improved F-4E, 103 of these in fact and would go to become an important part of the ROKAF domestic and international fire exercises.

The F-4E had 9 hard points. 2 on each wing and 5 on the belly. Combined the phantom could carry 8.4 tons of weapons.

This plane was made as an entry for the multi role challenge by Noob101.

I apologize if the cockpit doesn't look the best, before I realized I had reached the max part count for the challenge, I also realised I don't like planes with double cockpits. I also apologize for a problem with the landing gear which makes the plane spin if you brake after landing, after a lot of tinkering I couldn't find the problem
