Built: ?
In Commission: 1980-Present

Even after the development of the November and Hotel Class Submarines, the Soviet Union continued to develop Diesel Electric submarines of various classes. At the start of the 1980's the Rubin Central Maritime Design Bureau in St Petersburg would design a brand new design in diesel electric submarines.

Project 877 would be a brand new addition to Russia's then aging fleet of old submarines such as the Whiskey class. It was given several modernizations to make it quieter than its older predecessors alongside improved sonar. Improving its ability to detect enemy vessels while making it more difficult for such vessels to detect them.

While nuclear powered submarines such as the Akula and Sierra classes were built to patrol the wider oceans, the Kilo Class was built to operate nearer to friendly shores operating around europe and the middle east. Made both for anti-shipping and anti-submarine warfare. An automatic rapid loader would allow for the six 533mm torpedo tubes to be quickly reloaded, and its arsenal would go on to range from torpedoes, sea mines, cruise missiles, and even an air defense system in the form of 8 Surface-to-Air Missiles.

An improved version, Project 636, would be developed to improve upon the design. A single Kilo, B-871, would come equipped with a pump jet. Although a successor would be developed in the form of the Lada Class, problems with that project would result in the Kilo remaining in service to this day. 71 submarines would be built in total, with many of them sold to other countries.

Features:

  • Fully working hydroplanes and rudder (pitch and yaw)
  • Simulated Ballast Control
  • Unlimited Dive
  • Near 1:1 Scale
  • 4 Test-71 Torpedoes (link) and 2 3M-54 Kalibr Cruise Missiles (Link)

Instructions:

Submarine Operation
1)LandingGear to deploy bow planes
2)Pitch for Pitch
3)Roll for steering (Yaw)
4)VTOL for Ballast (Sinking and Floating)

Torpedo Operation
1)Press AG1, then AG3
2)Fireweapon to launch torpedo
3)Yaw to steer torpedoes, Trim to change depth.
Note: Trim is mainly for engaging submerged submarines, the torpedo will naturally float up to surface and need only yaw to steer toward ships.

Missile Operation
1)Reduce Depth to around 30 feet
2)Press AG2, then 3
3)Set Trim all the way down
4)Fireweapon to launch missile
5)Yaw to steer Missile, Trim for pitch/altitude control

When engaging surface targets
Note: This is to prevent bombs from being lost while launching and guiding a weapon.
1)do not press AG1 and 3 below 60 feet.
2)Go above 60 feet, reduce speed to around 5 miles per hour.
3)Use careful ballast and pitch to maintain depth
Note: Of course if you want you could just surface the sub and not worry about losing bombs

When Engaging Submarines
1)Don't worry about losing bombs, the rocket alone is capable of crippling if not destroying submarines.

Easy way to lower part count
Pull off and delete the torpedo tubes (circles on the nose) that'll remove the torpedoes and missiles and reduce the part count. Sub should work normally afterwards.

Here it is, a remaster for one of my early free diving submarines, the Kilo Class! Final out of a host of Requests I got, and my most functionally ambitious sub yet!

From now on I'm not going to be scaling my submarines weight with their size. The reason being that the weight will make Steerable rockets unsteerable. Thus this thing is light, but just as functional and this time fully armed! The torpedoes and missiles are both fully maneuverable thanks to the low weight.

Getting them all to work properly with the sub while also making sure it would be relatively easy to keep the bombs above 60 feet (while keeping the sub submerged) was a bit of trouble but I think I managed. Honestly it'd be convenient if WNP78 added the xml features of his nukes to all explosive weapons (including rockets) since it could allow me to give the rockets the power a torpedo should. Without having to add crazy piston-and-bomb contraptions!

In order to make my submarines more fun to use, I plan to give them all from this point on some form of weapon. Often torpedoes, sometimes cruise missiles, and if they're old enough deck guns!

@MintLynx I would really appreciate it if you did make that model of sailboat. Also, sailboats have been getting more and more popular, and would be a good source of upvotes.

@AlexIsDaBoss I'll consider it, sailboats haven't been a thing of interest for me though. Thanks for the compliment!

@MintLynx this is my challenge to you. You are really good at making things work, so I think you can do this. At one time, you have literally done nothing with simpleplanes, but you put your mind to it and now you have almost 1000 points. You can do it.

@AlexIsDaBoss I've literally never done anything with sails XD So I'm not exactly the kind of person to go for regarding sailboats.

    @MintLynx Gotcha, Texas. Right. Thanks...
Hey, I was wondering if you could make a sailboat for me? Specifically, a Ranger 20 sailboat. Thanks!

@MintLynx Ok. I will do that sometime. Hey, out of curiosity, is it 4:25 where you are?

@AlexIsDaBoss Try pulling off the weapons as described in the directions, might help somewhat with the lag. Glad it works!

@MintLynx Wow! Thanks for doing this. Unfortunately, it's so large that my phone can't handle it. But It worked, although laggy. Really, thanks for making this.
