YF21.5 “PEREGRINE FALCON” (123parts)

8,672 AirNK  one month ago

An experimental, simple, yet elegant twin-seater, with a flight control system modified from Jundroo’s Pigpen.

THIS IS FICTIONAL

Story:
In an alternative timeline, the Soviets decided to ignore the deficit in the wings of the Su-47 and put it in service.

The USAF assumed that their communist counterparts had overcome the difficulties constructing forward-swept wings, and concluded that they needed a stealth dogfighter ASAP…

As a result, the YF-22 was ditched because it was “too conservative”, as engineers from Northrop Grumman developed a canard + forward-swept wing variant based off the early YF-23 concept.

With a smaller size and lower cost, this prototype was assigned the YF-21.5 (never in reality would they name something like that)

Makes sense. I haven't tried anything yet, but just off the top of.my head, the rotators might just need to be faster?

Edit: a quick test showed that turning the canard rotator up to 100 speed is enough that even though it wobbles, it can recover from spins on its own.

@UPTOSPACE345 you’re absolutely correct. This plane uses modified Pigpen’s ft code, so it’s gonna wobble a lot.

This aircraft has a severe tendency to death wobble. Whenever you suddenly release pitch controls, the canards trying to bring the plane to zero AoA will overcorrect back and forth, and eventually see-saw you up and down to the point you begin spinning about the X axis.
