Bristol Bombay
The not-so-great series stumbles and haltingly advances once more! This time it’s the aircraft giant Bristol on point. Having made so many great aircraft, the Blenheim, Beaufort and beaufighter to name a few they came up with this; the Bombay. In a time where retractable undercarriage was pretty much standard, the fixed gear ungainly looking Bombay definitely looked dated at the start of her service. The start of its service being the subject to delay (a notable feature of British aircraft) so it wasn’t until 1939 the Bombay entered service. The Bombay was designed to the specification of a transport aircraft that could also double up as a medium bomber. I think swinging more to the former as defensive armament was a measly 2x .303 vickers machine guns housed fore and aft. Notable appearances include the siege of Tobruk, evacuating the Greek royal family, being used by the fledgling SAS and having the highest ranking British officer killed during the war when one was shot down over the western desert. This paved the way for Montgomery to take command - how different things might have turned out! Some notes on performance. There isn’t any! She will realistically bimble along at 180mph and handle like the crate she looks. Bristol turned out 50 in the end and she was withdrawn from service in 1944. History has quite rightly, forgotten its name!

I wholeheartedly agree! @GhostHTX pushing sea mines out the door hatch in winter wouldn’t have been the most popular detail I’m sure! And once again thanks my good man!
Very nice. I could never for the life of me understand the RAF preoccupation with bomber/transports. Is was a crap idea.
This model is not crap, however. It is very, very good. It checks all the boxes. Props and roundels, old chap, props and roundels.
Thank you @ThePrototype glad you think so!
Thanks, glad you like the narrative! @MEERKAT978
Firstly thanks for your interest @BACconcordepilot secondly, yup I agree with your summary. It was a vast improvement on the Vickers Valentia it was intended to succeed but in the era that gave us the DC3 she is rather lacking....
The sarcasm in that tone, hahaha!
You've gotta love British design and its tendency to ALWAYS be delayed.
Nice
@Tang0five no problem!
Why thank you! @MrSilverWolf
@Blue0Bull most sporting of you for the spotlight, thank you!
Awesome!
Thanks @Weaverfish it’s a little rough around the edges but it was starting to struggle on my iPad so I didn’t polish it up anymore!
Cheers @ChiChiWerx always a pleasure!
