Sopwith Camel (v1.0) Rotary Engine & Custom Prop

Uses a funky rotator for the propellor, with counter balance / flywheel!

Flying characteristics include rotation torque resulting in faster right turns. Engine torque is also adjustable using VTOL.

This plane has been designed more to break apart instead of exploding (uses DisconnectOnly attribute).

Controls

  • Throttle for throttle.
  • Trim for trim.
  • VTOL to adjust engine torque (whether the plane rotates left or right).
  • Fireguns for twin Vickers machine guns.
  • Cam1 for wing camera.
  • Cam2 for a better/wider view while dog fighting.

Notes:

  • Top speed is about 25% faster for fun factor.
  • I did not include all cables/stays.
  • Working cockpit.
  • Simulated shell ejection.
  • I placed the two main rotators at the front of the propellor so if you crash they are destroyed (otherwise if one is destroy the other will send the plane into a crazy spin).
  • Also it can fly underwater!

I was trying to make custom propellers for one of a build I'm working on, and couldn't figure it out. Then I remembered you did a great custom prop for this one. I didn't take any of your parts, but I did adjust the input to suit my needs.

Do you mind if I did some modifications on paint design. I have an idea for a paint scheme. ?

I second the request for a Fokker Dr.1, if that’s sounds like an interesting project- it would be cool to have a ton of different paint jobs for them.

Wish there was a good Fokker dr1 to go with this plane that the ai could fly the current best Fokker dr1 on the site the ai has trouble dogfighting with

I think I know what you mean... its been designed to have some auto roll - trying to get some realism... Use VTOL to 'trim' the auto roll...

    Spiffing!

I love how you've done the gyroscopic effect of the rotary.

Sorry to bother you dude but as you might know, the radial engine has an issue where the base of the blades offest increasingly as you alter the pitch angle. If you don't know what I mean try it for yourself. It would be quite helpful if you or any of your other dev mates would fix it. If you're too busy then that's fine. But it would be highly appreciated if you would. Thank you@AndrewGarrison

@ThatsAHotTopic Try copying the URL of the airplane and then pressing CTRL+L in the SimplePlanes designer to load it manually.
