Sopwith Camel (v1.0) Rotary Engine & Custom Prop

Uses a funky rotator for the propellor, with counter balance / flywheel!

Flying characteristics include rotation torque resulting in faster right turns. Engine torque is also adjustable using VTOL.

This plane has been designed more to break apart instead of exploding (uses DisconnectOnly attribute).

Controls

  • Throttle for throttle.
  • Trim for trim.
  • VTOL to adjust engine torque (whether the plane rotates left or right).
  • Fireguns for twin Vickers machine guns.
  • Cam1 for wing camera.
  • Cam2 for a better/wider view while dog fighting.

Notes:

  • Top speed is about 25% faster for fun factor.
  • I did not include all cables/stays.
  • Working cockpit.
  • Simulated shell ejection.
  • I placed the two main rotators at the front of the propellor so if you crash they are destroyed (otherwise if one is destroy the other will send the plane into a crazy spin).
  • Also it can fly underwater!

Sorry to bother you dude but as you might know, the radial engine has an issue where the base of the blades offest increasingly as you alter the pitch angle. If you don't know what I mean try it for yourself. It would be quite helpful if you or any of your other dev mates would fix it. If you're too busy then that's fine. But it would be highly appreciated if you would. Thank you@AndrewGarrison

@ThatsAHotTopic Try copying the URL of the airplane and then pressing CTRL+L in the SimplePlanes designer to load it manually.

I 100% agree, I simply remember collaborating with SR on my DR.1 and having issue with Yaw Deflection and dogfights. @BogdanX

@Chancey21 i don't want to sound critic on this beautiful build.
    1. 1034 parts for AI? There are a ton of mobile friendly builds to assign to AI
    2. Players personal experience comes first, i worry more about how the plane feels when a human plays it. And if you really concerned about AI control, you can assign an activation group to unlock the rudder for players (also a simple funky trees formula will work)

The yaw is due to the fact that AI in dogfights falls out of the sky randomly when given too much yaw, I had the same issue on my similar WWI dogfighter Dr.1 @BogdanX

@SpiritusRaptor Could you please make a Bristol F.2B? I absolutely love the realism that you infuse into your work, and I think that it would be a great addition to your WWI planes.
