Hello everyone! Supercraft888 here, and this is my entry for the 1950's Cold War Challenge made by Mikoyanster, if you haven't seen the challenge then go try it! May the best builder win.

I will be entering this into both the design challenge and the dog fighting tournament.

---Notes---
•design ques taken from F-4 phantom, F-5 freedom fighter, cf-105 Avro Areo
•First flown in June 27 1959
•experimental aircraft to test potential design characteristics for future aircraft, eventually lead to the creation of future aircraft

---Instructions---
•AG-1 to launch outermost missiles
•AG-2 to launch innermost missiles
•AG-7 to activate parachutes

---Description---
The XF-59 Sky Reaper was a development project to test theoretical design characteristics for future fighter jets. It was also used to test the new Pratt & Whitney J57-P-25 engine. It used an uncharacteristic air intake above the wings, as well as a canards and a delta wing design. It first flew on June 27 1959 along side the XF-58 Air Shark, another experimental aircraft.

It's development was lead by the Lockheed Corporation, who went to the Avro Canada corporation who was also building the CF-105 Avro Arrow at the time. Originally the offer was turned down but later accepted as publicity for the CF-105 Avro Arrow grew larger. However once funding for the Arrow was cut the XF-59 Sky Reaper's funding was also significantly cut, however, despite this, the new technology and design proved successful and would later be used in the legendary F-15

It's my lack of experience with double engines, I can't for the life of me make double winged fighter jets

Yeah, the cf-105, it probably wouldn't stand up much against the f-22, but other things it may be able to defeat

@Supercraft888 is it the CF-105 youre talking about? If so, I think it has a pretty good chance competing against modern 4-5th gen aircraft although being an interceptor.

Thanks for the upvote! Also yeah, shame such a beauty got terminated...I wonder how it would do in a modern day war along with all its proposed weapon systems, probably not good at all, but it would be neat to assume
