The M125 armored personnel carrier is a Paternian APC based off the M110. While the M110's performance was adequate, several issues came up during its employment, namely weight and mobility. The M110 was too heavy for air transport and a lack of amphibious capability meant that units equipped with it often had to find a bridge to cross or wait for a bridge to be laid. The M125 solved both of these issues through the use of lighter composite laminate spaced armor. In addition, its suspension was superior to the M110, providing a smoother ride. Features such as a removable armored roof were retained. In Paternian service, the machine was very popular for these reasons. Due to its boxy shape, it is often referred to as the "box" or "track", names carried over from the similar M110.
