Designed in late 1944 as a fighter and fighter-bomber, the FFVS J-23 Harpya (Harpy) would have served in CAS and low-altitude interceptor roles. It was designed to be easy to use, easy to maintain, and effective in its intended roles. The farthest the project got before it was canceled in early 1946 was that a scale model was made for wind-tunnel testing.
