BAC Lightning F6, 5 Sqn Binbrook, mid 80s. I used to fly them not build them, so you'll find some discrepancies - especially because I have no idea what I'm doing most of the time. You will find a reasonably correct compound leading edge, canopy frame and a facsimile of the old 5 Sqn tail emblem. Lower flaps with Trim Up and raise with Trim Down. Don't go past the neutral point or shit will happen - I used an elevator but I don't know how to inhibit the full range of movement, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Flight characteristics are quite accurate, the Lightning didn't - and won't - flare, but will change attitude. To land, select flaps down, Airbrakes fully extended, and maintain a shallow final approach with about 12% throttle and 3-5° nose up. You'll see the altitude drop constantly but control as if you don't want her to land.. Chop the throttle to touch down and hit A1 to activate the brake chute. A2 switches Nav lights on and off. Hope you enjoy it.!

@Alien yes you can download them from the mods page on this website or via steam if that's what you use. Awesome aircraft in their own right, when I was a kid we went to a model aircraft show and a pair of harriers turned up to do a display, awesome noise.

Thanks for the heads-up. Are these mods downloadable? The Lightning was also my favourite a/c as a kid, so I consider myself exceptionally privileged to have flown her. I love the Harrier too, obvously, and choosing an overall favourite is difficult. @RamboJutter

I'm probably the least likely candidate for hero status, but yes, the Lightning was gloriously overpowered and nothing else came close for sheer adrenaline rush.@GhostHTX

@Alien no worries, I use fine tuner and overload mods, they allow for more flexibility that the base game. Bit jealous of your career :) I've seen lightnings fast taxi at Bruntingthorpe but never seen them flying (one of my favourite all time aircraft hence I've made them on here).

So was it as much fun as you could possibly have in a flight suit? @Alien Also, you are now my hero. I would love to hear some of your WIWOL stories one time?

Flying them. 5 years on Lightnings and 12 on Harriers. 5 Sqn and 4 Sqn respectively.@GhostHTX

Cool. Air crew or ground crew? Ive read enough about the Lightning to know that it wasnt exactly a shining example of "easy serviceability". But flying her was as much fun as you could possibly have in your flight suit. @Alien

Well thanks again, but if it weren't for your observation I wouldn't have noticed the roll issue because torque induced roll is (was) something I was used to dealing with. As for surpassing your effort, possibly in the detail, but that was due to living with the aircraft for 5 years or so. I still have to come up to your standard for other builds. @GhostHTX

I really couldnt say what causes the roll issue. But I think as Tang0five says; mirroring might be the issue? As for other advice? Jeez - since this Lightning surpases my own attempt by quite some way, I should be asking you for building tips!@Alien

To limit control surface movement you need an add on that let's you edit the xml stuff in game, once you have that you can edit pretty much everything.

@Tang0five I did, by mistake (doh!). But I thought I'd annulled it...

Reference the roll anomaly @Alien did you use the mirror function?

@GhostHTX Thank you, that's high praise indeed! What do you think is accountable for the roll anomaly? In the real thing it was attributable to engine torque, and that's why the fin was enlarged, but I'm at a loss here. Any other advice you may have is more than welcome.

This is really very good. You really seem to have an eye for the details, whilst not going overboard on the part count. You have the dimesions and shape pretty much spot on too. I really like this, in case you couldnt tell.

But - she has a tendency to roll right when you pull the nose up. To the left on nose down. Just a small niggle but a niggle none the less.

Otherwise, this is completely and utterly top drawer.
