History
The Cessna AC-173 Grand Skyhawk was developed through a collaboration between independent aerospace engineers and Aerotec Flight Academy, envisioned as a high-performance training and light transport aircraft that would surpass the limits of the classic Skyhawk. While it inherited the spirit of the renowned Cessna 172, its design grew in size, power, and capacity, becoming a hybrid between an advanced trainer and a short-range business aircraft.
First manufactured in the United States at Cessna’s main headquarters, the AC-173 was created to meet the needs of flight schools seeking a versatile and reliable platform. Painted in an elegant white and green livery —Aerotec’s signature colors— the aircraft accommodates a pilot, copilot, and four passengers, with additional cargo compartments in the entry section and a ventral pylon cargo bay.
Aerotec acquired three units for its advanced training program, with the first aircraft —the one currently on display— being the pioneer of its fleet. With its remarkable power-to-weight ratio, stability, and aerodynamic efficiency, the Grand Skyhawk stands as a proud descendant of the legendary Skyhawk family. Its motto says it all: —Training pilots to conquer the sky and the world—
