This is the Blackjack livery variant of my Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4. It’s largely the same as the standard version, except for the new livery and a few other cosmetic changes.

It’s also in a lightweight display configuration, with no weapons (except the gun), and one drop tank under the fuselage. Funky Trees fly by wire is of course retained for effortless control throughout the flight envelope.

Reduced weight combined with the fly by wire controls gives a snappy roll response.

ZJ914 first received a black livery in September 2020, for use in the aggressor role by IX(B) Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland. This didn’t last however, and in May 2021 ZJ914 was given a striking Union Jack livery to be the display jet for the RAF Typhoon Display Team. Blackjack flew displays at events across the UK during the 2021, 2022 and 2023 display seasons.

ZJ914 was retired on the 6th of June 2024, after almost 19 years of RAF service.
