Я бегу на выжженной земле
Гермошлем захлопнув на ходу
Мой Фантом стрелою белой на распластанном крыле
С ревом набирает высоту
I had the idea of making this plane that totally isn't an F-4 while seeing a DCS cinematic of these bad boys shooting down MiGs, getting shot down, and dropping bombs in Vietnam, as well as listening to the Russian song "Phantom" of which you can see a short excerpt above. Let's go over this once again. It is not an accurate replica of an F-4 Phantom II, since it's got weird proportions, inaccurate sizing, et cetera. It's a Frankenstein's monster made by mishmashing a few Phantom variants, notably the early variants which lacked an internal gun. I originally wanted to make it more similar to the F-4E and other variants with integrated guns but for some reason I didn't choose to do so because I didn't feel like making a camo scheme for the plane. And speaking of the paint scheme, I originally wanted to base it off of the VF-111 Sundowners squadron markings but making their signature tail marking seemed too difficult so I based it off of the VX-7 squadron instead which had planes painted in all black save for roundels and their Playboy bunny logo which I wouldn't even think of making for two reasons. If you're wondering why this plane looks about 1% better than anything I've built before, it's because I discovered the fuselage smoothing feature which removes all these ugly lines between fuselage pieces. The loadout is made to be similar to Phantoms in ground attack missions carrying Mk 82 or 84 bombs and four Sparrow missiles. I did make an air to air loadout version that removed the outward bomb rack and replaced the inner racks with a dual missile pylon for four Sidewinder- I mean Guardian missiles, but I'm still thinking whether to release it or not.
Features
•Folding wings and arrestor hook to "accurately" simulate carrier operations
•Gun pod and high explosive bombs to dish out liberty and freedom to rice farmers
•Non-functioning RWR :)
•Somehow better flight characteristics than an actual Phantom
•Horrible yet snazzy paint job which you can replace if you don't like it
Controls
VTOL down- fold wings
Trim down- flaps
AG1- arrestor hook
**Somewhere in the North Atlantic- I mean the northeastern waters of the Wright Isles, a plane which is totally not an F-4 Phantom meets once more with an old nemesis...
Coming soon...**
