Santa Claus needs toy planes -lots of toy planes- to give to the children on Christmas day.

And this is where you come in

Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to build a toy plane that Santa Claus can give to some child on Christmas. No need to ship it to the North Pole though. Just posting it on SimplePlanes will be enough.

It has to arrive there before Christmas though so the deadline for this challenge is December 24st, evening

Some ground rules:

  • The aircraft IS a toy, so it should look and feel like one.
  • The aircraft should be able to fly unless you have a valid reason for it not to (like an aircraft-shaped rocking horse or pedal car). Regardless it should handle easy enough for a child to operate it. Literally!
  • Should be toy sized but toy sized in Simpleplanes can also mean for the plane to be in scale with the buildings on the airfield so the kid can play airport with it. (In other words: just build is as big as a normal SimplePlanes plane)
  • The planes will be judges on my mobile phone. So no more than 399 parts please.
  • We are playing for the standard reward of 10 upvotes for the winner and 5 for the two runners-up.
  • Judging will begin on Christmas day (12-25) and should be done within the next couple of days.
  • No more than 3 entries, please

The entries will be judged by the following criteria:

  • Toy like look and feel
  • Playability
  • Extras

And now for some inspiration:

Wooden plane 1
Wooden plane 2
Wooden plane 3
Plastic plane
Metal plane modern
Metal plane vintage

As you can see, there are some common elements that make for the right look and feel:

  • Either a simple cockpit or a cutout with a rudimentary 'pilot' in it
  • Alternatively the cockpit windows are cut out of the fuselage
  • Fixed rudimentary landing gear with oversized wheels. Toy planes 'fly' by being pushed across the floor.
  • Details either painted on or molded grooves.
  • Simple color scheme with most of the details achieved through decals

Ps, The Santa Claus figure in the image along with a couple more, is available for download HERE

Happy Landings
