PI Development AF-10 (Project 8128)

14.0k Griffon1  3.2 years ago

Project 8128, also known as the AF-10 in the Accilian Air Force, is an advanced multirole aircraft, which features respectable performance across the board.
It's design is similar to a "double Delta" seen in planes like the J35 Draken or F-16XL, however, its tail surfaces are mounted on protrusions starting in the mid-wing.
These house all-moving tail surfaces, which contribute to Project 8128's good maneuverability. The rudder fin also has a tailcode, squadron number, and formation lights.
Other markings and features include formation lights below the cockpit and an Accilian Air Force roundel in the starboard wing, on the joint protection plate.
The outer portion of the wings fold inward for storage. While it can theoretically fly with the wings folded, It is not reccomended.
Weapons wise, Project 8128 carries it's missiles in a modified version of my 8AAM pods, jostled and reconfigured to hold 4 MSLs and 4 4AAMs total. It also has SAAM air to air missiles.
Last but not least, Project 8128 carries Burst Rocket (BRKT) pods, which fire a spread of rockets to saturate a target with a storm of projectiles. This was developed to be used against very large aircraft and structures, although it has trouble damaging fortifications such as bunkers. It comes with around 35 rockets, and this weapon could be split into multiple bursts. If this is done, accuracy is not guaranteed.

This aircraft is one of the 44th Fighter Squadron, Blackwind Airbase, Accilian Air Force

The base aircraft comes with Burst Rockets, SAAM, and 4AAM, but you can find alternate loadouts in these variations/special versions:

Roll: steering

Creator's note:
This aircraft was loosely based on the De Havilland Sea Vixen, which in terms of aesthetic is probably my favorite naval fighter behind the F-14. While this aircraft itself is not carrier-based, it trades it out for high weapons capacity.
The burst rockets were kind of a last minute thing, and I think they turned out well in execution.
I feel like this is a worthy plane to hit #10 on the Project planes list. The part count is a little high, especially for MP, but if you remove the burst rocket pods it should be adequate for your needs.

As promised, I am going to release the Project 8117 remake soon! It's already built, I just have to rewrite the description and publish it. I don't think I will release variants for the remakes though, cause in 8127 the variant thing kinda crashed and burned.
