Variterra Archipelago

Version 0.78 Map Map Plugin

This map is a port of a captivating terrain from the renowned NuclearOption simulator. Spanning an impressive 6710 square kilometers, it boasts a network of intertwining roads and freeways, along with strategically placed airstrips, bustling towns, and formidable military bases. With dimensions exceeding 80 kilometers in length, it's the ultimate choice for extended journeys and airborne adventures, offering unparalleled opportunities for exploration and immersion.

And now seriously. This map is an unofficial port of a game map from the wonderfull _NuclearOption_ game. Honestly, it was the best investment of $15, because I fell in love not only with the gameplay and interactive component of this game, but also with one of the best landscapes I have ever seen in a flight simulator.
Unfortunately, that game didn't allow you to build planes and drive muscle cars, so I decided to make a port of the map.
Contacting the developer _B25Mitch_, I explained the situation and asked him to provide me with the shader he used in his game. Unfortunately, he refused me this, although he said that he was not against me porting the map.
Long story short, the port looks so terrible compared to the original because I'm stupidly clueless as to what methods the shader uses for blending, so I did the best I could.

This is a truly gigantic map, which has huge dimensions, but is equally suitable for air, land and water transport. It's especially fun to ride hypercars here at a speed of 130mph)

Map of the Variterra Archipelago

The mod is delivered on a modular system, so far the main module and a module with buildings are available.

And if you please, please check out NuclearOption, this game deserves more publicity.

0.77 version

Release of the Main module
Release of the Buildings module

0.78 version

Fixed some colliders
Increased fog distance
Added two new Locations
2 lane roads and 4 lane roads now have same color

0.79 version

Fixed tree collisions (removed tree collisions)
All object materials now have their Smoothness value set to 0.1
The wind turbines have their sound, but it is still drowned out by the engines.
Oh, and I changed the Metallic and Smoothness values ??of the material of the map itself to 0.5 and 0.1 respectively, which I think improved the look of the scene.

Roadmap

Steam release
Combat module
Forest module
Color palette changes

@FlyingPatriot is it possible to upload the map onto a hosting site such as Gifyu? I don’t think Discord supports image hosting anymore
(the link you provided below doesn’t work either)

this is just an idea, but It would be cool to see an ai convoy drive around the map, especially the desert areas🚚🚚🚚

@AquaViT again? I dont know what the problem, but i'm surę that's not im the spmod. file. Try update simpleplanes, turn off some other mods, redownload files, be sure, that spmod. location correct.

The textures of the buildings are not loading properly. I have already downloaded both the building module and the map.

Also probably because the Nordschleife mod has been posted for over a year whereas this one has been posted for only a few days; some people don't check the mods page super frequently. 44 upvotes in two days is pretty good, all things considered.

@FlyingPatriot Are you asking why the nordschleife mod has more upvotes than this? Either way I can't really say there's any particular reason. People do know the nordschleife much more so it has that going for it. If you're wondering if there's some sort of hidden algorithm, there isn't.

Nice port, the original dev really made some nice airports. The undulations on the airport surfaces makes for some fun rides down the runway.

Framerate tanks though, especially when flying with the city in view.
    There's just one, right?
I've only opened the base file, not the buildings one.
Regardless, this really signifies me finally being able to experience more than just the default Garrison Isles (or Wright Archipelago, depending on your style). For over seven years it's just been those same islands. Sure, I took a while to find Maywar and Snowstone (implying that Snowstone is a usable area of the game like ffs Jundroo how do you botch somthing that badly?), but even Maywarm, for all its size, isn't that big.
Thanks for the help, I will totally have to use this new skill.
Just gotta find trustworthy mod makers.

    ... I may be dumb.
I thought .spmod referred to a location in the files, not the mod download itself.
I am so incredibly sorry for my retard energy this should not have taken this long.
    Thank you for your patience.
As for the map itself, I don't think my Laptop can really handle it. Too big by the looks of things.
What kind of CPU do you have?
I have an i5-13 (or was it 12? idk) and a 3050 GPU iirc. idk what that means but yeah.
Wondering if I'm heavily underequipped for this.
